These older pieces are now rarely available as most have been sold, many to collectors.
All chokers are all intricately, handmade pieces and contain authentic coins and Afghan Lapis Lazuli
with small red, green and blue glass seed beads.
Metal is Gillit a composition of brass, nickel, melted down coins and some silver.
These items were purchased in N.Y.C., from former Afghan wholesaler who acquired jewelry from Afghan Refugees residing in Pakistan.
The term "Kuchi" is a Persian word "for those who move" or "nomad". These Kuchi Tribes are nomadic mountain herdsmen, who traveled between the mountains of Afghanistan and Pakistan,
and are composed of various ethnic groups as Pashtun, Tajik, Aimak, Uzbek, Baluch.
Most of these tribes are now refugees, residing in Pakistan, as the past few years of severe drought has decimated their sheep and goat herds and mountain roads have been blocked by fighting
and ever shifting frontlines, These past 23 years of war, current drought and unwillingness of farmers
to permit Kuchi herds to graze in their fields have contributed to what may be the end of centuries of nomadic life for these 2 million Afghan Kuchis.
This beautiful Kuchi Tribal Jewelry, maybe the final artifacts of this nomadic mountain culture.

ornaments and dangles with metal balls which sound when in motion.
Collar length is 12 inches, width is 1 1/4 inches,

Attached to collar are dangles measuring 3 3/4 inches.
